BMW 2 Series vs. 3 Series: What’s the Difference?

Both the BMW 2 Series and the 3 Series offer some amazing drive benefits, but if you’re in the market for a 2020 choice that meets all of your needs, which way should you go? Take a closer look at the BMW 2 Series vs. 3 Series to get a better look at what you might want to consider.

Quality Craftsmanship

No matter which way you go, you’re going to get real quality. The 2020 BMW 2 Series means you’re not going for a bigger vehicle, though. Instead, it blends practicality and comfort in a smaller package. Expect all the amenities with a vehicle like this including LED headlights, parking sensors, keyless entry, and a 6.5 inch infotainment screen.

One special point you must be sure to consider is the 2020 BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe. To date, the 2 Series has only been available as a coupe. The Gran Coupe, though, is a four door version that means plenty of rear seat space that may be important to you. It’s a bit sportier than the other models, and it offers a more aerodynamic look.

If you’re looking for a bit more luxury, though, you may want to upgrade to the 3 Series. It offers plenty of space with a few upscale touches including form fitting seats, a larger infotainment system, and cabin lighting. Add the premium package and you’ll get heated front seats and a heated steering wheel.

Should you select the BMW 2 Series, you’ll choose from a coupe or a convertible and two different trim levels. The 230i and the M240i trim series are both available. The 230i includes a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. Expect 248 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. Select the M240i if you want slightly more power. You’ll get a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine with this model that includes 335 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. Both feature an eight-speed automatic transmission or you can opt for a six-speed manual.

The 3 Series offers you even more power. Choose from two trim levels here, too: the 330i and the M340i. The 330i means a turbocharged 2.0 liter four cylinder with 255 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. The upsell means more power thanks to a six-cylinder, 382 horsepower engine that can put out 369 lb-ft of torque. It comes with an eight-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive. All-wheel drive is optional on both trim levels.

The 2 Series offers you the sporty drive you’re looking for. You’ll be comfortable throughout, but you’ll certainly feel like you’re in a vehicle that was made for sport. Comfort, though, reigns supreme with the 3 Series. You get plenty of sharp handling aspects, but the ride quality is stunning.

2020 BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe | Front-Wheel Drive BMW 2 Series | Braman BMW of Jupiter, Florida

2020 BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe Is Front-Wheel Drive

One facet we love about the recent developments in automobile making is that designers are not afraid to go outside of the box. We’re seeing innovation in motion. Designers are moving engines and experimenting with autonomous driving. BMW, of course, is always on the cutting edge of change, and they’ve decided to transform the 2020 BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe into a front-wheel drive BMW 2 series.

When it comes down to business-sense, transitioning the 2020 BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe into a front-wheel drive vehicle makes a great deal of sense. It’s much easier to engineer and the setup is easier as well, which translates into a more cost-effective manufacturing process. This, in turn, means that BMW can offer some amazing deals on their new Gran Coupe. So yes, it’s great that the car is more affordable, but how does changing this around affect the drive of the vehicle?

How a BMW drives is just as important as how it looks, and we’re happy to say that the new front-wheel drive BMW 2 Series handles like a dream. Thanks to the turbocharged 2.0-liter engine, which has 306 horsepower and 331 pound-ft of torque, you’ll find that you have absolutely no problem getting up to speed and doing so very quickly.

The biggest difference with this 2020 BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe is that it just seems to almost stick to the road. Due to the new configuration, the traction you get from the wheels is simply astounding, and something you’ll have to try to believe. With tight steering, great power and traction and a body that, of course, looks amazing, this new Gran Coupe is definitely going places. Visit Braman BMW Jupiter to learn more – and to put this sleek coupe to the test.

BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe Could Be Just Around the Corner

Does your dream car have a “but”? It’s perfect… except, if you had your way, it would have this feature or that feature? If you feel this way about the BMW 2 Series, you’re not alone – and BMW is listening. Talk around the old water cooler is that a Gran Coupe is in the making. If your dream car is a sleek, sporty sedan, it is about to come true.

Made to Break the Rules

A coupe has, by definition, a two-door body style. But, as BMW says, “Rules were not meant for this BMW.”  The 2 Series was “not just designed to push the limits but designed to exceed them.”

Apparently, even the definition of a coupe doesn’t apply to the 2 Series! The Gran Coupe is expected to be a sleek sedan that will compete with the sporty Audi A3 and Mercedes CLA. It  will  be a little longer than the existing 2 Series, and a liftgate may be added to the trunk.

But that’s not all that’s getting BMW fans’ motors running. BMW will likely build an M2 version of the Gran Coupe. The M Series is, of course, BMW’s performance line. The M models feature different trims, modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, and other modifications that differentiate them from the “regular” models. (Though, does BMW really make regular vehicles?).

Four-Door Perfection

A four door version of the BMW 2 Series and of the M2 will appeal to a broader market – those who want the practicality and convenience of back doors but are not willing to sacrifice a 3.0 liter turbo six engine, 365 horsepower, and gutsy rear-wheel drive. Power aplenty. Other versions will  allow buyers to choose from three or four cylinders and all-wheel drive.

The BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe and its M version are expected to hit showrooms in 2019. Can’t wait? Don’t blame you! Check out today’s hottest BMW cars for sale and find a dream for the interim.

New Blue BMW 2 Series Convertible For Sale

View From The Driver’s Seat: BMW 2 Series Convertible

‘Romp’ isn’t a word that usually comes to mind when describing how a car drives, but it somehow suits the striking new BMW 2 Series Convertible for sale now at your local Braman BMW dealership. Cars, like people have personalities, and the immediate impressions you get from the 2 Series are ‘young’, ‘perky’, and ‘energetic’. And that’s the way it drives; put the top down and you feel like a kid skipping along without a care in the world.

BMW 2 Series Options

Part of that feeling comes from what’s under the hood, in this case a 240 horsepower, turbocharged 4-cylinder mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. If you want something more muscular, order it up with the turbocharged 6-cylinder and you get 320 horsepower and zero to 60 in less than five seconds.

The ‘sport’ button gives you even more get up and go, when you want it, and for still higher levels of performance – and safety – the 2 Series is available with BMW’s outstanding all-wheel drive system, X-Drive.

The 2 Series BMW Convertible

While the 2 Series is available as both a hartdtop and convertible, in an environment like we have here in Palm Beach, well, there’s not a feeling in the world better than cruising around on a sunny day with the top down. Just push the button and twenty seconds later you’re enjoying ocean breezes and adding to your tan.

If it starts sprinkling, or gets too hot, you can put the top up while the car is in motion – at speeds up to 30 miles an hour. And when you do, multiple layers of insulation make it really quiet and snug inside.

There are all kinds of options for customizing your 2 Series, like the high-end keyless entry system that lets you put the top down before you even open the door. Also the Sport Line and M-Line option packages that include larger wheels and tires, sports seats and sport-tuned suspension. There’s even a track handling package if you have some race driver fantasies you’d like to indulge.

So if a car that can go from sunshine beach cruiser to snarling sports racer sounds like it should have a place in your garage, stop by Braman BMW dealer in Jupiter, FL and tell them you want to romp around in the ‘perky’ one – they’ll know what you’re talking about.
