BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe Could Be Just Around the Corner

BMW 2 Series | Braman BMW

Does your dream car have a “but”? It’s perfect… except, if you had your way, it would have this feature or that feature? If you feel this way about the BMW 2 Series, you’re not alone – and BMW is listening. Talk around the old water cooler is that a Gran Coupe is in the making. If your dream car is a sleek, sporty sedan, it is about to come true.

Made to Break the Rules

A coupe has, by definition, a two-door body style. But, as BMW says, “Rules were not meant for this BMW.”  The 2 Series was “not just designed to push the limits but designed to exceed them.”

Apparently, even the definition of a coupe doesn’t apply to the 2 Series! The Gran Coupe is expected to be a sleek sedan that will compete with the sporty Audi A3 and Mercedes CLA. It  will  be a little longer than the existing 2 Series, and a liftgate may be added to the trunk.

But that’s not all that’s getting BMW fans’ motors running. BMW will likely build an M2 version of the Gran Coupe. The M Series is, of course, BMW’s performance line. The M models feature different trims, modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, and other modifications that differentiate them from the “regular” models. (Though, does BMW really make regular vehicles?).

Four-Door Perfection

A four door version of the BMW 2 Series and of the M2 will appeal to a broader market – those who want the practicality and convenience of back doors but are not willing to sacrifice a 3.0 liter turbo six engine, 365 horsepower, and gutsy rear-wheel drive. Power aplenty. Other versions will  allow buyers to choose from three or four cylinders and all-wheel drive.

The BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe and its M version are expected to hit showrooms in 2019. Can’t wait? Don’t blame you! Check out today’s hottest BMW cars for sale and find a dream for the interim.
