The rumor mill has been spinning for quite some time now when it comes to a potential new BMW car. The most recent to come up again and again is the concept of the McLaren engine appearing in a future BMW vehicle. It’s not a bad idea. If so, will it end up at a BMW dealer?

In 1992, McLaren and BMW teamed up, resulting in a McLaren F1 and powered by a BMW 6.1-liter V12 engine. The F1 supercar was the result of something impressive – and it hit the Monaco Grand Prix with some interesting results. However, since then the two haven’t teamed up again– until now.

At least, that’s the rumor.

So far there is no model name and only a handful of details that trickle out here and there. Whether these details are true to form, only time will tell. These details include it being a two-seater, mid-engine coupe, and feature a carbon fiber monocoque. The engine is said to be a 4.0-liter V8 that will use four turbochargers, and produce 750 hp.

So will this new BMW car end up at a BMW dealer? There’s no way to know right now. Thus far everything has been speculation. We like to think we know what the car may contain, what it will be priced at, and the number of units that could sell, but until BMW does a formal announcement, there is no way to be certain.

What’s the rumor mill have to say about the car’s release date? Someday 2017 – and those are probably the most optimistic ones – as others say 2019. In the end, if you’re interested in a new BMW car for yourself, don’t hold out on this one. Instead, visit a BMW dealer and find one that you love that you can take home today.
