The BMW 8 Series was first introduced four years ago and now the Bavarian automaker has introduced the 2023 models, which include the 8 Series Coupe, Gran Coupe Sedan, and the Cabriolet (Convertible). While there have not been many external changes, the 2023 BMW 8 Series have a few refreshing things on the inside that customers will love.
NEW GRILLE
On the front, the 2023 8 Series all come with a new illuminated grille that features rejuvenated U-shaped vertical bars. The “trick” grille is activated when the door is opened, or the vehicle is unlocked. This feature can be manually turned off.
INTERIOR DISPLAY
The biggest change is with the dash, where the 12.3-inch live cockpit professional display has replaced the older 10.25-inch digital instrument panel. The BMW luxury starts as soon as you step inside with personalized 64 color ambient lighting and soft-touch closing doors. But the climax of the interior is that crystal gear knob combined with the use of delicate and exotic materials to cover the subtle panels. While seated, the interior colors may vary from white, black, brown, and even a combination of finishes.
Like all BMWs, Apple Carplay is now standard and instead of the Android Auto, one has the option of the Bowers & Wilkins diamond surround-sound system. BMW has avoided overloading the cabin with unnecessary gimmicks.
840i
Both the BMW 840i and the 840i xDrive have 335hp. With the BMW convertible models, they’ve seen to it that both are defined by the words “elegance” and “sporty.” What a combination! It provides a powerful ride, and the auto doors provide a soft close. The premium sound inside is thanks to Harman Kardon. Use the BMW app on your smartphone to remotely start the engine and opt for the Driving Assistance package to get all the latest technological features for a safe driving experience. The starting price for the 840i Convertible is $94,400 and the 840i xDrive begins at $97,300.
M850i
The 2023 BMW 8 Series M850i xDrive Gran Couple combines luxuriousness and sportiness for maximum elegance along with powerful V-8 engineering. The BMW convertible has 523 hp and goes from 0-60 in 3.7 seconds. It has 20-inch M wheels and M Sport Brakes. It comes with Integral Active Steering with new stitching on the wheel. The M Suspension that comes standard has a precision damper so you can better control how the M850i responds to your needs. The M Sport Differential, also standard, provides complete confidence in the handling. The price starts at $99,900.
M8 Competition
With larger display screens, striking upholstery, and new colors, the BMW convertible M8 competition arrives on the scene to make you sit up and take notice. The standard display screen is now 12.3 inches for better viewability. The upholstery is a combination of black leather and orange Alcantara cloth. Five new paint finishes will be available for your pleasure. The M8 Competition Coupe offers 617 hp, a 4.4-liter V-8, and an incredible 0-60 mph time of 2.5 seconds. You can also change from manual to automatic transmission thanks to the development of Drivelogic. Configure your brake performance at the touch of a button for better control or make the addition of Carbon Ceramic brakes for more capability. This is an amazing vehicle. The sales price starts at $130,000.
THE COLORS
The 8 Series will also come with novel colors that include San Remo Green metallic, Skyscraper Gray metallic, Frozen Pure Gray, Frozen Tanzanite Blue metallic, Portimao Blue metallic, and two new wheel options.
UPGRADES
Upgrades seen in the 2023 BMW 8 Series M850i xDrive coupe, Gran Coupe, and convertible include the M exterior mirrors and an optional M sports package professional available for the M850i xDrive Coupe. Other upgrades include a dark kidney grille, black calipers, and a Shadowline headlight with dark inserts. The iconic BMW motorsport logo will be offered to all M850i x drive models instead of the traditional BMW roundel.
POWERTRAINS
Things that have not changed with the 2023 8 Series include the powertrains. The base M840i xDrive comes with a 3.0 L turbocharged l-6 which will generate 335 hp. All the series 8 models will be AWD with an 8-speed automatic engine.
LIMITED EDITION JEFF KOONS ART CAR
In 2023, BMW will also introduce the Jeff Koons Limited Edition 8 Series 850i xDrive Gran Coupe. This limited edition will have the finest interior leather and the exterior will have a combo of eleven colors. The Limited Edition Alpina B8 Gran Coupe will also have other additional features that include the large dash display, new grille, and a range of colors to choose from.
